Mon, May 29

Breakfast: smoothie

Lunch/Dinner at Kinetic Brewery in Lancaster, CA: grilled chicken with mozzarella & parmesan cheese on marinara sauce, with a side salad. We also had a sample flight of beers, and I then had a full-size red ale.

 

We were in Lancaster because we drove the Musical Road several times at different speeds!

In other news, I rocked my Star Trek shirt today. It fits again! Yay!

 

Update: realized I forgot to include my snacks. I tried jerky for the first time. It was good, though it made my jaw tired from all the chewing! 😄

Breakfast: smoothie 

Lunch: kojak cheese, mixed nuts, & Parmesan "whisps" chips. The whisps were pretty good. Nice and crunchy and savory. I think they'd make really good "croutons" on salads!

 

Dinner: leftover beef & beans from last Monday night, plus cheese & more mixed nuts.

Breakfast: 3 medium-boiled eggs in a low carb tortilla

Lunch: two low carb tortillas with cream cheese & some mixed nuts

Breakfast: smoothie with strawberries 

Lunch/dinner: ground beef browned with salsa

Snacks: I had a low carb tortilla with cream cheese

Dessert: we still had 2 small pieces of cake left over from Wednesday's dinner with friends, so I had one of those for dessert. 

Other things: we took in our recycling. Plastic bags (and plastic wrap, and similar film plastic fro everything) went to the Stater Brothers bin. Plastic and glass bottles, plus scrap metal (including an old satellite dish from the shed) went to the recycling center. We got a whole $4.68 for the recycling! LOL! 

 

Definitely not getting rich quick this way! But it's still a good thing to do.

Lunch/dinner at Denny's: I had the Build Your Own Sampler. Mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, and a cheese quesadilla. 

Other things: cycled my kefir today.

Breakfast: smoothie with strawberries

Lunch at Red Robin: lettuce-wrapped cheeseburger with bacon & guacamole, with a side salad

Dinner at a friend's house: grilled beef tri tip with grilled zucchini. I also had 3 beers and half a piece of chocolate cake to celebrate being with friends (plus tomorrow is Brianne's birthday). 

In other news: we got a flat tire today. 

 

Turned out to be a valve stem from a truck tire. 

 

Driving with the small spare tire now. Going to to tire store tomorrow. Sigh.

Breakfast: smoothie with strawberries

Lunch at Subway: Club sandwich as a salad. Turkey, ham, & provolone (double meat, double cheese), with spinach, tomato, & pickles, salt & pepper, oil & vinegar, avocado, & Parmesan cheese. 

Dinner: beef tri-tip sautéed in seasoned chicken broth with onions & garlic, mixed beans, garbanzos, lentils & mung beans, konbudashi-pickled mushrooms, and dilly purple cauliflower, with a side of sauerkraut. 

 

In other news, yes I feel much better today! 👍

Dinner: smoothie with strawberries

I've been constipated for a few days, likely as a result of not eating well for most of April and still being busy in May, so on Saturday night I took a "woman's laxative". When I woke up this morning, things seemed to be moving well and I had no troubles during church. I even took this pic because I'm starting to feel good again about how I look:

 

After church we picked up a few things from Costco and had lunch, then came home. Once at home, the remaining effects of the laxative hit me, hard. Ugh. 🤢 After that I was exhausted and took a long nap. I still wasn't feeling well enough to actually eat anything, so I just had another smoothie for dinner.

I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

Snacks: Parmesan spread with chiccarones, plus mixed nuts.

Breakfast/lunch: smoothie

Dinner: bunless double cheeseburger with bacon. Got it from a vendor at the farmer's market. The young man (high school age?) who took my order was super confused when I said "no bun" and never truly recovered, so it took a few tries to explain what I wanted. Lol!

Snacks: kojak cheese & mixed nuts 

Also: cycled my kefir. Got my hair cut too, finally!

I got busy with things this morning and so forgot to have breakfast. By the time I realized it, it was 12:30 or so, so I had a smoothie. 

Dinner was at McDonald's. I had a double quarter pounder with cheese and no bun. I was still hungry, though, so I also had 20 McNuggets. 

Not a good food day. 😕

We went to the movies today & saw "The Fifth Element" on the big screen for its 20th anniversary. Because it's What You Do At The Movies, I had a small popcorn. I'm not sorry. 😉

Lunch: smoothie

Dinner: low carb tortilla with tuna salad (tuna mixed with ranch dressing, sesame seeds, & dill) and green leafy sprouts. And a hunk of kojak cheese. 

Other things:
I harvested the green leafy sprouts. 
I made konbudashi-pickled mushrooms & onions again and put them in a jar in the fridge. Can't wait to use them and the konbudashi! Yum! 👍

Was running a bit late this morning and so completely forgot to weigh myself. Mutter. 

Breakfast: smoothie

Lunch at Denny's: I had a bunless burger with American cheese, bacon, avocado, & egg with a side of fruit. 

Evening snacks in lieu of dinner: kojak cheese & mixed nuts. 

Other stuff: my leafy green Sprouts are almost ready to harvest! I took the lid off of them tonight to let them dry out a bit. I'll put them into the fridge tomorrow.

Sat, May 13

Slept in and lounged a-bed late so had brunch instead of breakfast. Brianne made scrambled eggs with cheese.

I had a smoothie for dinner. 

Did some physical labor today. We loaded up the truck with old broken and termite-chewed & painted scrap wood that was by our firewood pile. Also removed some rotten wood slats from our firewood platform. We took them to the dump, where we had to unload them onto their green waste pile. 

Before that, we took a stroll around our property and saw lots of blooming things! Here are some pics:

Breakfast: smoothie

Lunch at Costco: chicken Caesar salad

 

Dinner: boneless pork chops covered in my mustard pesto sauce and baked. For the side dish, I sautéed some onions and garlic in olive oil, then added some of the mustard pesto seasoned chicken broth, then lentil and mung beans, some mixed beans, plus some of the purple dilly cauliflower and a few slices of "egg brain". Also a side of sauerkraut. 

 

I had some kojak cheese as a late night snack. 

Other things I did today: 
I cycled my kefir. 

Plus I went to the local thrift store and bought 2 pairs of size 14 jeans (for $12!). My old size 16 jeans had gotten so loose that I could put them on & take them off without unbuttoning or unzipping them! 👍 

I offered the old jeans on my local Buy Nothing FB group, so one of my neighbors will get them. There's still a lot of life in them, they're just too big for me. 

The old jeans were relaxed fit Bootcut & one pair was "Curvy". One of the new pair is "skinny" & the other is regular bootcut. They both seem almost brand new. 

(Autocorrect, what is with the random capitaliZation?!) 🤷‍♀️

Breakfast: smoothie

No lunch

For dinner, Brianne baked 2 chicken thighs seasoned with salt, pepper, Tuscan Italian seasoning. I harvested all my beans & sautéed some mixed beans, lentils & mungs, plus some garbanzo beans with some onion & garlic and some hrudka (which I'm now calling "egg brain" because it's shaped like a brain and made of egg - it tastes like Japanese tamago) in the last of my konbudashi. Served this with sides of sauerkraut and pickled carrots & daikon. Yum!

Lunch at Subway: salad - spinach & lettuce with turkey, ham, & egg, plus tomato, pickles, & Parmesan, with oil & vinegar.

Other things: I rinsed and renewed the water on my bean sprouts & transferred the little seeds to a sprouting tray.

Tuesday, May 9

I slept in this morning, then got busy doing stuff and so didn't even think about breakfast until about 12:30. I had a smoothie when I finally remembered. 

I was busy all day and so didn't eat another meal all day. I snacked on cheese & mixed nuts. I don't feel hungry, though. 

Now that I can see the light at the end of the Crazy April tunnel, and know I'll be home for a couple of weeks, I started some beans to soak. There's also some seeds soaking for leafy green Sprouts. I'll transfer them to the sprouting trays tomorrow. 

 

Go me for using a bunch of my "new" jars! Lol!

I look forward to cooking with these and getting back to my "normal" diet. 

I knew April would be tough and it was. My weight loss basically stalled, but I knew it would, so instead of the numbers, I've been focusing on my clothes getting baggy & fitting into older (smaller) clothes again. That has helped me keep a positive outlook through this rough patch. 👍

Lunch at Timbré rehearsal provided by Joy, who is a complete sweetheart! I had 2 tacos in flour tortillas (not low-carb). 

Dinner at Coco's restaurant: I had the Parmesan-crusted chicken with grilled zucchini & tomatoes, with an arugula & tomato salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

Late lunch/early dinner at Wendy's. I had the triple burger (no bun), with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. 

I've been lax on reporting other stuff, so here goes: I also cycled my kefir. 

April has been super duper busy for me, so I haven't made any Sprouts. Now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I need to do that. 

I also have a lot of stuff in the fridge. I need to take an inventory and use up some stuff.
