It's about a 2.5 hour drive from our house and when we got there we went straight for the Visitor Center. We walked along a paved trail, enjoyed all the pretty flowers, and took lots of pics. Here are some of mine:
I took a pano, too:
I'm not much of a photographer, as you can tell. 😉 Brianne took much better pics with her fancy camera!
These pics don't really do it justice. There are flowers everywhere! Big ones, little ones, yellow, white, purple, blue! It's not like the Flower Fields in Carlsbad, where they grow them commercially, but it's still a gorgeous sight, though easy to overlook if you don't pay attention. Here's another pic from the drive down, along the side of I-15, near Murrietta:
We also drove way back into Coyote Canyon. We would have gone further, but didn't want to chance the 2WD SUV over one of the streams. We'll have to go back sometime with the 4WD F-150 truck and see just how far back that "road" goes!
We stopped at a local café for lunch. Brianne had a beef burrito, while I had a cheeseburger with no bun but with lettuce, tomato, & pickle, plus a side of fruit. I did eat one of the homemade tortilla chips that came with Brianne's burrito.
We took the long way home, going further east to the Salton Sea, since I had never been there, before heading north again. We snacked on salted peanuts while driving.
When we got home, I was too exhausted to make dinner, so I just took a shower and made a smoothie for myself. Brianne is scrounging for herself.
I also watered my green leafy sprouts - they should be ready to harvest tomorrow. I started up some more beans to soak, too: green peas & Lady Cream peas, lentils & mung beans, the mixed beans, garbanzo beans, and almonds.
