Poppies! Friday, Mar 17

Today (after my usual morning smoothie) we went to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve to see the beautiful poppies. Here are some pics:

We saw lots of those little lizards and they were quite brave, sitting there in their burrows staring at us as we walked by!

Here are 2 pano pics I took:

You have to embiggen the pano pics to really get a sense of the vast carpet of poppies and other flowers, and even then it's not the same as seeing it in person. Just breathtaking! 😍

We had a picnic lunch at the Reserve. I had a low-carb tortilla with cream cheese, turkey, ham, & green leafy sprouts, plus sides of Dilly Beans, kojak cheese, a nectarine, and some chicharrones.

After the Reserve, we drove another 5 miles west to the Arthur B Ripley Desert Woodland State Park, a tiny thing that, quite frankly, looks just like our back yard!

Here's a pano:

We have the Joshua trees, juniper bushes, & prickly pear cactus just like this. Our backyard has cholla cactus too, but the park didn't seem to have any. 😞

According to Pokémon Go, I walked over 5 km today. Yay! 😊
